How to cut trough the paralysis?
I count myself to the group of people who experience difficulty in organisation, time management, and discipline. Or rather, I never managed to learn any of these with the outcome that my life is kind of a chaos. When I think about what to do next, I can get analysis paralysis, also known as choice overload. I tend to hopelessly complicate things so much that in the end I choose to do something unproductive. Yes there are days I get nothing done.
Let’s build an app!
I realized I could do myself a solid and create a tool that can help me cut through the choice overload and complications, by choosing randomized tasks for me. And then I visualized exactly how it needed that to work. I’m using it now, and get way more done!!! The trick is to make a bit of a trade: you accept the challenge to do the task the app, in its digital wisdom, chooses for you while it kindly eleminates the mental overhead of choosing what to do, that gets you stuck. So, it is a challenge!
Randomizer
You start with a list. The app will choose a task at random, and it will remember that too – so it doesn’t get chosen too soon after. Some tasks, like tidying up the room, you may like to pop up more often – so you add “x2” or “x3” and the app will remember this.
You can add more lists, up to 9 in total.
On your device only
What does the app store actually though? Nothing. It stores all your data on your device. Easy, simple, honest, smart and effective! Go ahead, try it out.
