Privacy Policy

1. What is Hevig.be?
Welcome to hevig.be, a place where we are the writers, and you are the reader. Some say we only exist as figments in your imagination. Keep doing that.
For privacy questions, suggestions, or very long debates, you can reach us at schrijf@hevig.be.

2. What data we get from you (and what we do with it)
If you leave a comment, we collect:

  • Your name (unless you go for a mysterious avatar).
  • Your email address (don’t worry, we won’t spam you).
  • Your IP address (WordPress handles this automatically, not our fault).
  • A website URL (optional — feel free to spam one if you want).

Why? To display your comment and keep bots and trolls out.

3. How long we keep your data
As long as this blog is online and the comments remain relevant. Or until the internet collapses. You can always request your comment to be deleted.

4. Who we share your data with

  • Spam filter (Akismet) — to check your comment doesn’t make anyone gag.
  • Hosting provider — they make backups, so your comment might be in there too.

If this keeps you up at night, the best advice is: don’t post a comment.

5. Your rights
You may request access to the data we hold about you. Honestly, we’d find that a bit odd — we’ve already explained it all here. Read it carefully. You may request deletion of your comment(s). Send your requests to admin@hevig.be.

6. Cookies
If you leave a comment and select “Remember my name and email,” your browser will store that for a year. Convenient, isn’t it?

7. How we protect your data
We update this site regularly. Not us personally, but our web host GreenGeeks does.

  • We use security plugins. Standard stuff.
  • No random strangers are allowed to mess with our database. Honestly, we don’t even touch it ourselves. WTF is a database anyway?

8. Changes (because rules sometimes change)
We update this policy if it’s truly, really necessary.
